What is Easter Sunday?

Easter Sunday is the joyful celebration of Jesus Christ rising from the dead.

After the sorrow of Good Friday, the empty tomb reveals the heart of the Christian faith: Jesus lives. Through His death and resurrection, Christ has conquered sin, death, and the devil and won forgiveness and new life for the world.

Christians gather on Easter to hear this good news again, to rejoice in the victory of Christ, and the receive the gifts God gives through His Word and Sacraments.

Whether you attend church every week or have not been in years, you are warmly invited to celebrate Easter with us.

What can I expect during an Easter service?

During our Easter services at Light of the Valley, you can expect:

  • joyful hymns and music celebrating the resurrection

  • Readings from the Bible that tell the story of the empty tomb

  • A message centered on the hope and victory of Christ

  • Prayer and worship with the gathered church community

On Easter morning Christians often greet one another with the historic proclamation: “Christ is Risen!” “He is risen indeed! Alleluia!”
